maillady

Since this week I'm working as a maillady (post-rond-breng-mevrouw). As you can understand this is one of the most exciting things in my life... well maybe not, but it's fun (as long as it's not raining, but so far so good).

Of course I'm trying to deliver the mail to the right homes which I really do 99% of the time. And sometimes I make a mistake. I feel crappy for about .. hmm .. a couple seconds and then I go on.
And every now and then I come across some weirdo. Like this lady opening the door in her bathrobe. Or this guy opening the door asking me what the %&$#* I was doing (excuse me for existing, I'm just delivering your mail...).

Dogs barking, trying to bite my fingers off. Overflowing mailboxes. Ladies cleaning their windows. This Chinese trying to explain to me where his mailbox is located (I know where it is located, that is where I deliver your mail, thank you very much).
The radio that I'm listening to keep me up-to-date with music and news. The elderly waiving at my behind the window.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up: my life as maillady.

I seriously believe this job brings your life in a different perspective to the benefit of the greater good. It also adds a new dimension to your world. keep it up! bring it on! Deliver that mail! meet every house with a smile, stack the letters and warm christmas greetings into these boxes and bring happiness to everyone!
o.k, enough crap

Been there, done that; winds sucks more than rain but hail is the worst. Think free on your daily walk ;-)

I don't know where you work but if you think old ladies answering in bathrobes are bad, this mail lady has had old men unswering with a wifebeater and no underwear on, I once ran into a man watering his garden in the nude, i've been chased by pitbulls and rotweilers and chased down by welfare check waiting crack heads. I could go on and on. How about a route swap? You want "interesting" Huh?

It surprises me that this item has the most comments, well I guess it's time to start a new group: mail-delivery-people-unite :-)

well just to let everyone know I'm not a maillady anymore. I'm into doing graveyardshifts at the local homeless shelter, it's lots of fun!!
