Romans road, revised version

What if, instead of telling non-christians the rules of christianity (the Romans road) we would tell them something different:

You are the bride to the Bridegroom, and the Bridegroom is Jesus Christ. You must eat of His flesh and drink of His blood to know Him, and your union with Him will make you one, and your oneness with Him will allow you to be identified with Him, His purity allowing God to interact with you, and because of this you will be with Him in eternity, sitting at His side and enjoying His companionship, which will be more fulfilling than an earthly husband or an earthly bride. All you must do to engage God is be willing to leave everything behind, be willing to walk away from your identity, and embrace joyfully the trials and tribulations, the torture and perhaps martyrdom that will come upon you for being a child of God in a broken world working out its own redemption in empty pursuits.

Ok, my first post in Dutch... I don't usually do this, but in a nutshell: it's about the retardedness of Dutch politics and justice system.

Ok, dit bericht neem ik even over van een ander website, maar ik wil het echt even met jullie delen en ik heb de vrijheid genomen een paar delen te highlighten.
Ik vond het artikel omdat ik me afvroeg of de Utrechtse serieverkrachter nog vrij rond loopt, waar ik trouwens nog steeds niet uit ben...

Nu het beleid van justitie in Eindhoven om verkrachtingszaken met bestuurlijke middellen aan te pakken vruchten begint af te werpen heeft de ook het OM in Utrecht besloten de zaak van de Utrechtse serieverkrachter over te dragen aan de arbeidsinspectie.

De officier van justitie heeft verslaggevers laten weten de Utrechtste serieverkrachter niet te zullen vervolgen, de zaak wordt overgedragen aan de arbeidsinspectie en de belastingdienst. De man verkrachtte in 1995 en 1996 zeven vrouwen en randde er elf aan, hij sloeg in het najaar van 2001 opnieuw toe met een verkrachting en een aanranding. Als hij gepakt wordt wacht hem een boete wegens overtreding van de arbowet. De politie van Utrecht is op het idee gebracht door de politie van eindhoven die vorige week een aantal mannen die vrouwen tot seks dwongen beboete wegens het 'in dienst hebben van illegalen'. Nu verkrachting aangemerkt kan worden als arbeid denkt de politie dat de arbeidsinspectie de utrechtse verkrachter kan beboeten. Het OM gaat ervan uit dat de man niet de benodigde vergunningen heeft om vrouwen 's avonds te laten werken.

Dit past in het landelijke beleid om het justitieel apparaat te ontzien door criminalitiet op een bestuurlijke manier aan te pakken. Verkrachtingszaken leggen net als andere ernstige geweldsdelicten een zware belasting op het politieapparaat. Als de daders berecht worden komen als ze ook nog eens in de gevangenis terecht waar ze de gemeenschap geld kosten. Aan een maatregel zoals een boete hoeft niet eens een duur onderzoek of een rechtzaak vooraf te gaan bovendien brengen boetes geld in het laatje.

"In Eindhoven geven ze het goede voorbeeld. Ik zie geen reden waarom we een verkrachting in de bosjes anders zouden moeten behandelen dan een verkrachting in een smerig achterkamertje. De arbeidsinspectie is prima in staat om deze zaken aan te pakken" Aldus de utrechtse persofficier Kanmijhetbommen.

In het zuiden des lands boekt de politie al een tijdje grote successen met dit beleid. Voorheen werd er nog wel eens iemand gearresteerd voor vrouwenhandel. Maar dat gaf een hoop extra werk, waar de politie niet op zit te wachten. Nu hoeven de agenten niet op zoek te gaan naar vrouwen die gevangen zitten en dagelijks misbruikt worden door meerdere mannen. Ze laten ze lekker zitten. Alleen als er een hele goede reden is om een einde te maken aan de verkrachtingen komt de politie in actie, zoals vorige week dinsdag in Eindhoven. De aanleiding voor de actie van Openbaar Ministerie en politie van vorige week was dat dinsdagnacht een vliegtuig klaarstond op Schiphol voor het uitzetten van een groep illegaal in ons land verblijvende Bulgaren. Er waren nog stoelen vrij, en die kon het korps Brabant-zuidoost benutten. De chartervlucht was geregeld door de Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst (IND) en de Haagse politie. "Van een aantal adressen in de stad wisten we al dat er Bulgaarse vrouwen zouden kunnen zijn", aldus de politiewoordvoerder in Eindhoven. "We zijn met de invallen net zo lang doorgegaan tot we voldoende illegalen hadden om het vliegtuig vol te maken." Door een goede afstemming met de penose bevrijdt de politie nooit meer mensen dan nodig is om de charters op te vullen. Op deze manier hoeft de gemeenschap niet op te draaien voor de kosten van illegalen. Omdat de verkrachtingen worden aangemerkt als arbeid krijgen de misdadigers een boete voor het in dienst hebben van illegalen. De top van justitie houdt deze positieve ontwikkelingen nauwlettend in de gaten en beraadt zich nog op andere efficiency verhogende maatregelen.

Naschrift.
Het is niet mijn bedoeling de politie of justitie van Utrecht belachelijk te maken. Het is al helemaal niet mijn bedoeling om de afschuwelijke misdrijven die de utrechtse serieverkrachter heeft gepleegd te bagateliseren of de slachtoffers te onnodig kwetsen. Ik ben zelf een vrouw en ik woon in Utrecht.

Maar ik ben het met de fictieve officier Kanmijhetbommen eens, er is geen verschil tussen de verkrachtingen die gepleegd werden rond de Uithof en de verkrachtingen waar de uitgezette vrouwen slachtoffer van waren. Behalve dat de utrechtse serieverkrachter zijn slachtoffers daarna laat gaan, en ze aangifte kunnen doen en opgevangen worden. En dat ze niet illegaal in Nederland zijn.
Volgens de wet moeten slachtoffers van vrouwenhandel - een afkorting voor verkrachting, mishandeling en wederrechtelijke vrijheidsberoving - de kans krijgen aangifte te doen. Deze vrouwen zijn meteen op het vliegtuig gezet. Dit is niet verwonderlijk want ze zijn alleen maar bevrijd om het vliegtuig op te vullen, dat gedeelte is niet verzonnen, ik heb het woordelijk uit het Eindhovens Dagblad overgenomen. Als de slachtoffers de kans hadden gehad om bij te komen, als ze adequate hulp hadden gehad dan hadden ze wellicht aangifte gedaan en was het mogelijk geweest de daders te arresteren. De 'koffiehuizen' zijn ook niet gesloten, (ook niet de tenten waar eerder vrouwen uit bevrijd waren), volgende keer moet de charter weer vol. Voor de goede orde, de turkse 'koffiehuizen' zijn niet de enige toko's die slechts een boete krijgen als er vrouwen worden verkracht. De nederlandse penose profiteert al een tijdje van dit nieuwe beleid.

Het OM geeft met deze actie duidelijk aan wat ze van de wet vindt. En voor de duidelijkheid: deze wet is doorgevoerd omdat het parlament (de wetgevende macht) namens ons allen vond dat vrouwenhandel een ernstig misdrijf is. Dit is enerzijds een geruststelling want wij (de stemgerechtigden) hebben onze taak vervuld. Maar als justitie vriendjes wil zijn met verkrachters en de rechten van slachtoffers wil schenden, dan doen ze dat ook namens mij. Wij gaan Polen en Bulgarije vertellen aan welke hoge eisen een EU-lid moet voldoen, terwijl hier in Nederland een wetteloosheid heerst die op geen enkele manier te rechtvaardigen valt.

Ok, zie zelf maar wat je wel en niet gelooft van dit bericht, maar ik denk dat het overduidelijk is dat in Nederland seksuele delinquenten afschuwelijk lichte veroordelingen krijgen in verhouding met andere misdaden. De AIVD-tolk krijgt 4,5 jaar, maar een man uit Arnhem krijgt 1 jaar (waarvan een half jaar voorwaardelijk. Dus eigenlijk maar een half jaar, waarvan normaal gesproken maar 2/3 uitgezeten hoeft te worden: dus 4 maanden) voor het seksueel misbruiken van een 11 jarig meisje.

Hoe lang laten wij dit doorgaan?

Since this week I'm working as a maillady (post-rond-breng-mevrouw). As you can understand this is one of the most exciting things in my life... well maybe not, but it's fun (as long as it's not raining, but so far so good).

Of course I'm trying to deliver the mail to the right homes which I really do 99% of the time. And sometimes I make a mistake. I feel crappy for about .. hmm .. a couple seconds and then I go on.
And every now and then I come across some weirdo. Like this lady opening the door in her bathrobe. Or this guy opening the door asking me what the %&$#* I was doing (excuse me for existing, I'm just delivering your mail...).
Dogs barking, trying to bite my fingers off. Overflowing mailboxes. Ladies cleaning their windows. This Chinese trying to explain to me where his mailbox is located (I know where it is located, that is where I deliver your mail, thank you very much).
The radio that I'm listening to keep me up-to-date with music and news. The elderly waiving at my behind the window.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up: my life as maillady.

do something for humanity

Ok, I'm not gonna make this a preachy thing, but when was the last time you tried to do something for mankind. I passionately wanna change the world (I haven't figured out how to do it yet, but I'll let you know when I've figured it out...) .

A lot of times we can only do a little and because we don't see the result instantly we don't feel like doing it at all. I do it, I bet you do it too. But in this hi-tech-society it is made so easy to make a difference, so why not give it a shot...

to ADHD or not to ADHD

Eventhough it's this soft spot in my heart and sharing it makes me feel vulnerable, I decided to share this part of my life with you.

After all the jokes I've made about having ADHD and after working with my beautiful ADHD teens in Los Angeles, it was time for me to face the truth... well the truth?!
I decided to do some tests on the internet. I only made it through two, (I didn't want to much confirmation) on both I scored way above average... time to see a doctor.

I got the referral and now I'm waiting for an appoinment.


Thinking about having ADHD and reading into the matter cleared a lot of things up for me. For instance why I never finished school. Why I can't write papers. Why swearing is one of my habbits. Why I have such a hard time being on time. Why I had to decide not to drink alcohol for a period, since I couldn't limit myself (no pretty sight there...) They are all characteristic of ADHD, together with depression, inattention, impulsivity and overactivity.
There are still a lot of tings I don't know about the disease, but there are a lot of things I recognize in my own life.

I'm just trying to be honest and it might not be the smartest thing to do, but hé, I'm just trying to be transparant and share what's going on in my life.

ministry

Ok, there's this thing in the christian world called ministry. If you're not doing it you kinda look at it in awe, you will never be good enough to be a part of a ministry. And then there are the people who are doing ministry... Please don't ask them about their personal faith, coz they are doing ministry. And since I come out of 'doing ministry' for over 1 1/2 I think I can say that most people are hiding behind their ministry so they won't have to show themselves or their doubts.
I think a lot of time people are afraid to approach a minister because "Ye, how dareth thee to questioneth thine minister." or "Ye, how dareth thee to thinketh that thine minister has time for thee, lowly being."
Well, ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, but you're getting my point, right? I think a lot of times christians look up to ministers and ministers hide behind their ministry so they don't have to show who they really are.

One of the most important things I've learned in my ministry years is that there is no such thing as ministry. There is a christian walk, where you have a relationship with Jesus and try to follow His commands (not because you have too, but because you love Him), where you love your neighbor as yourself. And in this christian walk you can decide to join a ministerial organization or you can decide to work at Burger King. One is not better then the other.
On the other hand when you're not doing the christian walk you can choose to join a ministry or work at Burger King.
Either way, in the end people will always know what you're made of.

Everyone may stumble and fall, and we all have to work through our own issues.
I didn't write this to criticize ministries, but I would love for us to take a second look at the things we have put on pedestals, maybe we should remove a couple of them. And maybe we should learn to let our guard down and show who we really are.

This world is looking for truth. If christianity really is the truth then we don't have to make it prettier then it is, right? Since christians and christianity go together, we should be willing to show who we are and the struggles we go through so we can help others in their struggles.
